Yeim (Amy) Bae was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She received her BFA in Curatorial Studies and Art Management from Dongduk Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. She was interested in non-profit, experimental art organizations and in developing public education programs designed to enhance social engagement and community outreach. Based on these interests, she interned at a non-profit gallery in Korea called the Gallery Space. She earned her MFA in Curatorial Practice from Maryland Institute College of Art with her thesis exhibition Project 837: Home and Homelessness – a socially engaged art show at a transformed, abandoned school building, owned by Project PLASE, which served as a catalyst for this project. She also has a passion for linguistics and literature.
